The Bake Off Challenge | Week Three - Bread

*Contains Bake Off spoilers*

Its week three in the Bake Off tent which means we are fully getting stuck in! This week was bread week and the bakers had to make buns, naan bread and wedding bread cakes! I was amazed at some of the bread wedding cakes, I think Kim-Joys cat wedding cake was my favourite.

I decided to challenge myself (as you may have seen from my previous blog posts) I have been baking along side with the Bake Off. So I have baked my own bread!
This was the first time I have ever made bread and I'm so pleased with myself, bread is easy to make but hard to get right. Mine is an Italian bread and tastes amazing but its a little dense. There is a few reasons why this could be. For a starts I didn't use the right flour(I used plain white flour when you should really use strong whit plain flour as that has more or stronger gluten in it), secondly I think it could of done longer in the oven and thirdly I used my airing cupboard prove it.
My dad who is an experienced bread maker told me that its not such a great idea to prove your bread in the airing cupboard because it will raise unevenly. You're better off to rise it over night in the fridge which I might give ago in the week as I'd love to perfect a simple bread loaf.

I was so upset for Terry on this weeks Bake Off, as he was doing amazingly for the first and second challenge and I was so sure that Ruby would be the one who was going to get sent home.
I was also thinking that Bri would be asked to leave the tent but I also think she is an amazing baker who will make it to the finals.
Next week is dessert week (which I've now missed...oopies) I have no idea what I'm going to bake. The preview for next week showed them making chocolate bombs...not baking but hey ho.

But this is what I love about this challenge I have set, its going to push me to bake things I've never baked before, it will help me to approach new recipes.

As always thank you for reading and I hope you're having a lovely week wherever you are. If you'd like to join in on the challenge tag me on Instagram of your bakes and use the hashtag - the bake off challenge. I'd love to see your baking creations!
