Christmas Time 23rd-30th | Blog Weekly #1
I started this week on Sunday 23rd which was Christmas eve eve. I mostly spend the day making a gingerbread house! This is the first gingerbread house I have ever made (from scratch). I'm actually very surprised that it didn't turn out terribly! - despite falling down a few times...
On Christmas eve I learnt how to use my Polaroid camera. I'm not really sure why I was so worried about learning how to use it, it's as easy as pie. I adore the photos I have taken with it.
In the afternoon my sister and I drove to my stepdad's and brother's house. We listened to Christmas music and chatted along the way, it was lovely.
Christmas day was fun and my stepnan took this photo of my brother, sister and myself which I adore so so much. I got some really lovely gifts for Christmas such as books and art materials. We had the classic Christmas dinner (though I had a nut-roast instead of turkey). In the evening we watched Notting Hill.
On boxing day my sister and I drove back home and again listened to some classic Christmas bangers! We had a lovely brunch before we left - scrambles egg on a crumpet with smoked salmon.
Once we got back home we opened gifts from my dad and his girlfriend. I got some records which I can not wait to listen to and I also got some more books. After opening gifts we heated up some mulled wine and played a few board games and video games together. In the evening we had some nibbly things and watched Harry Potter. It was honestly a perfect day.
When everyone had gone to bed I decided to watch a documentary called Happy. I've been very interested in what as human-beings makes us happy and how we can become happier. I found while watching this documentary that to have a good level of happiness we only need our basic needs met such as water, food, shelter and to have good healthy relationships with others, friends and family. The documentary is on Netflix if you're interested in watching it.
On Thursday (27th) myself, my sister, my dad and his girlfriend all took a short walk to visit our local shops. I got myself some storage boxes to help organise my bedroom and also I got a few crafty things from Hobby Craft to help with some new projects I have set myself. I got some little brown books so that I can document tickets, and a book to stick pressed flowers in. I also got some knitting needles and some wool as I have lost my stash, I plan on knitting myself a blanket.
We stopped off at Pets At Home and I fell deeply and desperately in love with a brown rabbit that had floppy ears.
Later that evening I decided to make some mince pies for the first time ever! They turned out really well and my family really liked them.
Friday (28th) my sister and I watched Shape of the Water and ordered a takeaway. Shape of the water is a stunning yet strange movie about a mute woman who falls in love with a fish man.. each to their own.
I've decided to do RED January with Mind Uk as looking after my mental health is very important to me. I thought I'd kick it off in a good way so took a walk into town to drop off some things at a charity shop. My sister and my dad joined me on my walk, it was a perfect day for a walk. Once we got into town we dropped off the things and looked around the shops. Town was pretty dead due to it being a Sunday and it was nomans land between Christmas and New Years.
We stopped by my favourite coffee shop called The Rustic Bean that has this magnificent Christmas tree.
We walked home and enjoyed the nature around us. Going to town and back is about a 2.8 mile walk which is a pretty decent walking distance. I felt really good after the walk and very refreshed. The rest of the day was spent eating yummy food cooked by my dad, drinking (hik hik) and playing board games. I've had a lovely Christmas week and really don't want it to end or go back to work next week..
As always thank you for joining me on my little slice of the internet. If you want to know more about RED January please check out this link to read my story, share, donate and/or join in. See you next week!
